The water levels of Loch Awe can vary from week to week depending on the amount of rainfall in the area. Scottish Hydro, who operate the nearby pump storage hydro scheme at Ben Cruachan do however have the ability to manage the height of the water on the loch by opening the sluice gates at The Pass of Brander. Here are 2 photos of the loch, one taken last month and one taken last summer. Spot the differences.
Looks like Scottish Hydro fell asleep on one of these days!!! We’ve never seen the loch so high. It was so high that the entire jetty was covered in water and only the top of the picnic table was showing.
Why not visit the ‘Hollow Mountain’ for yourself ? A great day out for all the family and only 15 minutes drive from Achnasmeorach House.
